Much of the world's useful knowledge lives inside people.
It lives in experience, judgement, instinct, memory, repetition and lessons learned over time.
Some of it is written down. Much of it isn't.
When people leave a workplace, retire from a profession, move on from a craft or simply grow older, valuable knowledge can disappear with them.
